Scenarios and concept visualisations for the replacement or temporary solution for a landmark cycling bridge

  • Length: 100m

  • Max span: 2x20m

  • Width: 4.6m

  • Including ramp and piers, keeping original spiral ramp structure as priority

The city of Roeselare is evaluating replacement options for the Spiraalbrug, a key local cycling landmark over the Albert I Laan. The existing structure has degraded and requires a sustainable solution.

Partnering with Belgian contractor Van Huele and the engineering office Antea for a competitive bid, urb-x developed technical concepts and 3D visualisations for a modern timber superstructure.

To demonstrate true circular construction, one proposed scenario integrates re-used timber box girder modules from the demounted urb-x test track into the new Spiraalbrug design.
