Design and construction of 160m elevated cycling track

  • Length: 160m

  • Max span: 20m

  • Width: 4m

  • Deck surface: CLT-slabs with PU-sealant and sand deck layer

  • Including ramp and columns

On the Basel SBB industrial site, urb-x realised its prototype over a 200m cycling route including ramp, coordinating the complete construction with specialised subcontractors. The test track is the system's proving ground: assembly logistics, module behaviour and construction methodology, demonstrated in practice. Essential knowhow on modular construction methods was generated and used to inspire and re-design the new generation of urb-x modules.

In 2025 the modules have been demounted and stored for re-use. To prove the re-use, the 20m and 10m modules are considered for new projects currently in planning.
